QUETTA: Two-day book festival was held at the Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University (SBKWU) here.
The Principal Secretary to Governor, Abdul Jabbar and Vice Chancellor of SBKWU, Professor Rukhsana Jabeen jointly inaugurated the book fair.
Speaking on the occasion, the Principal Secretary to Governor appreciated the organizers for holding the book festival. He said that we need to take steps for promotion of book reading among the youth. He also praised the interest of the students in books.
The Vice Chancellor of SBKWU said that the purpose behind holding the book festival is to create interest of the students in books. We want to maintain a relationship between the students and the books.
She regretfully pointed out that today the internet, computers and social media have taken place of books in the society. The importance of books is fading gradually, which is not good, she pointed out.
She hoped that the book festival would help promote trend of book reading among the students.
The people loving books progress in education and technology, she believed adding she stressed the need to motivate our youth to study maximum books.
The Vice Chancellor also pointed out towards the academic activities besides the overall performance of the University.
The students are being provided ample opportunities of studies and research, she mentioned.
