EOC vows to mobilize all resources for polio eradication

QUETTA: The Emergency Operation Center (EOC) Balochistan formed for eradication of polio has said that all available resources would be mobilized for eradication of polio virus from the province.
A press release issued here by the EOC, any negligence would not be tolerated at all in this regard.
Moreover, it would be ensured to vaccinate each and every child below five years of age in the forthcoming polio immunization campaigns to be launched in the province.
The press release also mentioned that in all 51 Union Councils have been declared polio high risk in the province.
It may be mentioned here that three cases of polio have so far been reported from Quetta, Killa Abdullah and Loralai district (one each) during the current year.
However, the situation has been aggravated ever since the virus detected in the samples collected from sewage of Quetta and Killa Abdullah districts recently.
Meanwhile, the Balochistan Health department has decided to suspend the District Health Officer (DHO) and Union Council Medical Officer (UCMO) in Quetta, Pishin and Killa Abdullah districts in case of the poor quality anti-polio campaign there.
This has been decided by the Health department on special directives of the Chief Secretary Balochistan.
According to the notification, the poor quality polio immunization campaign would be tolerated at all.
