QUETTA June 13 (PPI): Writers, authors, poets and intellects should play their historic role for end of menace of extremism from the society through their writings and work. Intellects and writers through their pen and knowledge can properly guide youth in our society.
These views were expressed by Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch while addressing opening day of 2-day National conference on ?Amn ky liuy adeeb ka kirdar (role of writer for peace) organized by Academy of Letters here Saturday.
More than 40 poets, writers and scholars are participating in the conference form four provinces, Gilgat Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.
Chief Minister said today our society is hit by various kinds of extremism. Centuries old tradition of tolerance and brotherhood was badly affecting. Under prevalent situation literate strata particularly intellects, writers, authors and poets responsibilities increase. He said writers and intellects are sensitive people of society and important segment who play with words and cover love, war and cruelty in their writings.
He expressed the hope that gathering of people of knowledge would have positive impacts and help stabilize and balance or society hit by reluctance and uncertainty. He aid politicians when decline from top they leave this world and people forget them after some time. But intellects, writers and poets always remain alive in the minds and hearts of people owing to their writing and works.
Referring to Ata Shad and Gul Khan Naseer he said they are alive in our minds. They played important role in highlighting our history.
He aid Quetta was Centre of knowledge during 1970 to 1980 and knowledge friends gathering were held regularly. But now situation is different.
Chairman Academy of Letters professor Dr Muhammad Qasim Baghio highlighted aims and objective s of conference while Dr Kahwar Khan presented his paper on extremism.
Chairman of Academy of letters also gifted set of books to Chief Minister.
