QUETTA: A seminar on child labour was held under the auspices of Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP) at the District Assembly Hall in Zhob.
The Deputy Commissioner Zhob, Nazar Muhammad Khetran was the chief guest. The seminar was organized in collaboration with the Rural Support and Development Programme.
The Deputy Commissioner Shirani, Azeem Khan Kakar, Chairman Municipal Committee Zhob, Abdul Saleem Mandokhail, Chairman Municipal Committee Shirani, Sultan Shirani, Assistant Commissioner Shirani, Munir Ahmed Kakar, President of District Bar Council, Abdul Samad Mandokhail, District Education Officer, Dawood Khan, and others.
Addressing the seminar, the speakers pointed out towards the reasons behind the increasing child labour. They said that poverty is the main reason behind the child labour just because people can’t afford to send their children to school due to the poor economic condition.
They said that the children fell prey to the bonded labour just because they have to feed their families being the sole bread earners in certain cases.
They said that although the legislation has been made against the child labour, but still there is a dire need to take practical steps to ensure implementation on the same.
They appreciated the holding of seminar on the critical issue and hoped that similar awareness sessions would continue to be organized in future as well.
