QUETTA: The Audit Office cricket team defeated Shabo Star Cricket Club to reach semifinal of the All Pakistan Ramadan Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament here at the Bugti Stadium.
Captain of the Audit Office, Ziauddin Kasi decided to bat first after winning the toss. His team scored 193 runs at the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Muhammad Zubair Mengal was the highest scorer with 96 runs facing 51 balls. He hit excellent strokes all over the ground. The Test cricketer Muhammad Talha also demonstrated good batting skills in the ground scoring 29 runs off 13 balls.
He hit two nice sixes in his superb unbeaten inning.
Muhammad Salman and skipper Ziauddin Kasi played inning of 26 and 22 runs respectively.
From bowling side (Shabo Star), Najeeb took three and Gul Zaib got one wicket.
In reply, Shabo Star could score 140 runs while chasing the otherwise big target. Najeebullah remained the highest scorer with 38 runs. Badar Ali and Mohibullah scored 26 and 25 respectively.
Bashir Ahmed secured three wickets while Muhammad Talha and Muhammad Salman got one wicket each.
Thus, Audit Office won the first quarterfinal of the tournament by 53 runs and qualified for the semifinal.
Hameed Khan and Abdul Karim performed the duties of umpires. Murtaza Badini was the Match Referee and Tariq Faheem was the Official Scorer.
Meanwhile, the team captain, Ziauddin Kasi, Secretary Gul Muhammad Kakar and Manager Lala Muhammad Nawaz have congratulated the team over its success in the quarter final of All Pakistan Ramadan Cup T-20 Cricket. The captain described the achievement as a result of team work.
He hoped that the team would continue to perform in the same manner in the semifinal.
