QUETTA: The Quetta Mutton and Beef Association ended its strike regarding sale of the meat in the provincial metropolis.
The strike was ended after the negotiations of the district administration led by Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue, Yasir Khan Bazai, in which the prices of the mutton and beef were reviewed again.
The representatives of the Anjuman Tajran were also in attendance in the negotiations. From the administration side, the Assistant Commissioner Quetta City, Tariq Mengal, Special Magistrates and other concerned officials.
It was unanimously decided to put an end to strike of the butchers in Quetta immediately. The rates of the mutton and beef were also re-fixed during the meeting.
As per the new rates, the boneless beef would be sold at the rate of Rs. 410 per kilogram and the beef without bone would be made available at Rs. 310 per kilogram. The rate of mutton was fixed at Rs. 600 per kilogram.
It was further decided that strict implementation would be made on the new official rates fixed after consultation with the concerned.
All the shopkeepers / butchers would be bound to display the rate list prominently at their outlets.
On violation of the rate list, the butchers would be sent to Jail for one month.
In this connection, the Special Magistrates have been given special powers to take stern action in case of violation.
