Public transport fares reduced by 10 pc on eve of Eid

QUETTA: The Provincial Minister for Transport, Excise and Taxation Sheikh Jaffar Mandokhail has announced to reduce the fares of public transport of all routes in the province by 10 percent on eve of Eidul Fitr.
This was announced by him in a joint meeting of the Provincial Transport Authority and different organizations and unions of the transporters and owners of the buses and coaches running on various routes of the province, here the other day.
As per the decision made, all the transporters would charge the passengers 10 percent less than the existing fares already fixed by the transport authority with their understanding.
The special concession in the transport fares would be applicable from the 27th Ramadanul Mubarak till Eidul Fitr, the meeting decided unanimously.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister Transport, who also happens to be the President of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q), said that we had pledged to provide maximum relief to the people in transport sector.
He said that with cooperation of the transporters, we have been able to reduce the transport fares by 10 percent on festive occasion of Eidul Fitr.
He on the occasion regretfully pointed out that the transport fares were used to be increased double fold on the eve of Eid in the past.
But, we decided to give relief to the travelers with cooperation of the transporters, he said. He on the occasion also thanked the transporters for their cooperation in this regard.
The issues being faced by the transporters also came up for threadbare discussion. Jaffar Mandokhail gave a patient hearing to their issues and assured to play their part to resolve them.
In this regard, he would take up the transporters’ issues with all the concerned departments, Mandokhail assured further.
Secretary PTA:
Meanwhile, talking to a delegation of transporters, the Secretary Provincial Transport Authority (PTA) Abdul Khaliq Mandokhail said that 10 percent reduction in the transport fares would help provide relief to the travelers in the province.
He praised the transporters for the decision made. He also commended the role of Provincial Minister for Transport, Sheikh Jaffar Mandokhail and Secretary Transport, Muhammad Khalid Baloch in this regard.
The Secretary PTA also said that the government is endeavouring hard to bring improvement in state of transport in the province.
Also present in the meeting were the Secretary Regional Transport Authority, Amanullah Panezai, Focal Person Jan Muhammad Hassani and others.
