Balochistan Prevention and Protection of Thalassaemia Act to be tabled in BA

QUETTA: The Standing Committee of Balochistan Assembly for Public Health and Population Welfare has decided to table the Balochistan Prevention and Protection of Thalassaemia Act 2015 in next session of the Provincial Assembly.
The decision to this effect was made during a meeting of the Standing Committee held here the other day. The Chairperson of the Committee, Dr. Ruqayia Saeed Hashmi presided over the meeting.
Those who attended the meeting were included the members of the committee including Provincial Minister for Youth Affairs, Culture and Sports, Mir Mujeebur Rehman Muhammad Hassani, Secretary Provincial Assembly, Muhammad Azam Davi, Secretary Law, Syed Safdar Hussain and Deputy Secretary of Health Department, Abdul Wahid Panezai.
The agenda of the meeting was to discuss the draft law of Balochistan Prevention and Protection of Thalassaemia Act.
The participants of the meeting discussed different aspects of the draft law in detail. It was decided to present the law in the provincial assembly for approval.
The necessary approval would be sought from the assembly for legislation and further enforcement in the province.
According to the bill, it was learnt through reliable sources that couples getting married would be required to be tested for the disease.
“It is obligatory for a nikah khuwan to ask for tests before solemnizing the nikahâ€, said the official sources.
Draft law on harassment of women:
A meeting on draft law on the harassment of women at workplace is scheduled to be held on October 7, 2015 at 11;00 AM at the committee room of the provincial assembly secretariat.
This was announced in an official hand out issued here.
The draft law against harassment of women would be discussed threadbare during the meeting.
The Chairperson of Standing Committee of Balochistan Assembly for Social Welfare, Women Development, Zakat and Ushr, Minorities and Youth Affairs would preside over the meeting.
The members were requested to attend the meeting.
