Prize distribution of 11th ISMO to be held today

QUETTA: The prize distribution ceremony of the 11th National Inter-School Math Olympiad (ISMO) 2015 is scheduled to be held at 02:00 PM today (Wednesday) at the Balochistan Boy Scouts Association’s headquarter here.
The students securing positions in the Olympiad would be awarded with cash prizes as well as shields and certificates in the ceremony.
The senior officials of the Education Department, parents of the position holders, teachers of various participating institutions would attend the ceremony.
It may be mentioned here that the Balochistan phase of 11th National Inter-School Math Olympiad was held in Quetta and few other cities under the umbrella of Pak-Turk International Schools and Colleges.
Around 500 students (girls and boys) from some 40 different educational institutions mostly from Quetta participated in the Olympiad, which basically was aimed at instilling interest in Mathematics.
Needless to mention here is that it was the 11th edition of the annual National ISMO organized simultaneously by the Pak-Turk International Schools and Colleges at some 17 centers located in nine cities of the country including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi, Multan, Khairpur Mirs, Jamshoro, Hyderabad, Bahawalpur besides Quetta.
All participants were the students of Grade-5 to Grade-8 both from the government as well as private schools.
Attractive cash prizes in addition to plaques and certificates would be awarded to the position holders. As per the announcement made on the occasion, the first position holders from each 5,6,7 and 8 classes would get a cash prize of Rs. 40,000 while second positions from all the four classes would get cash prize of Rs. 30,000 each and third position holders would be eligible to secure cash prize of Rs. 20,000 each.
Moreover, top 20 position holders in each city would also get attractive prizes. The total cash award money becomes Rs. 2 million.
More importantly, the top position holder of class-8 category would be awarded with the title of “Al-Kharizmi of Pakistan”, which would remain with the winner for the period of one year.
In addition to that, the provision holder would also be awarded Rs. 10,000, Rs. 7,000 and Rs. 5,000 respectively for each class as was informed by the Regional Coordinator, Mr. Yasin Bektas.
