Zamindars, kissans block Sindh-Balochistan highway

TAMBOO July 25 (PP): Hundreds of kissans and zamindars blocked traffic in protest against Irrigation Department for shortage of agri water in Pat Feeder Canal and other distributaries in Nasirabad. Due to blockade passengers, travelers and transporters faced great difficulties in sizzling heat.
Protestors shouted slogans against officers of irrigation department and demanded stopping theft of agri water.
Speaking on the occasion JUI central leader Nizamuddin Lehri and others said Irrigation Department officers were openly violating orders of Balochistan High Court and Chief Secretary and patronizing zamindars for theft of agri water. Water was very boldly stealing by putting pipes illegally at the main canal and other distributaries. Kisans and Zamindars were deprived of even drinking water in Roba Umrani, Magsi, Balan and Bari distributaries and their cattle heads were dying. People have been forced to migrate at large scale. If water was not provided to kissans and zamindars in tale area they would be forced to self immolation as rice crops worth millions was turning dry.
