SC constitutes one member bench to probe August 8 incident

QUETTA Oct 6 (PPI): Supreme Court of Pakistan has announced one member bench for inquiry of August 8 incident. Bench comprising Justice Qazi Faez Essa would present its report in one month.
This bench was constituted by Chief Justice Supreme Court Anwar Zaheer Jamali during hearing of August 8 incident at Quetta Registry at Balochistan high Court here Thursday. Three mummer bench of Apex Court consisting of Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Faisal Arab was hearing the case.
Today Home Secretary Sarfraz Bugti, Chief Secretary Saifullah Chatha, IG Police Ahsan Mahbub and other senior officers were present in the court.
On a question of Court Advocate General Amanulah Kanrani told that Advertisements of Rupees 6,55,000/- were issued to newspapers for inauguration of trauma Centre while rupees 18 thousand were spent on day of inauguration.
Health Department, Home Department and IG Police filed their reports before the court saying that inquiry team for August 8 incident has been changed. Contract of private guards at the civil hospital have been cancelled. Non cadre secretary Health has been changed.
Hamid Khan Advocate pleasing lawyers expressed no trust in the report. Chief Justice remarked that he has filed his reply what should be next step. Hamid Khan said a non controversial commission of Supreme Court shod be constituted which should submit its report in one month. He said two months have passed nothing has been done yet nor any thing about investigation has been brought to the notice of lawyers.
Thereupon Court announced to constitute one member Bench comprising Justice Qazi Faez Essa which would submit its finding in one month.
Lawyers requested the court to constitute an independence investigating commission comprising of judge of Supreme Court.
Another injured of Quetta incident also succumbed raising toll to 74.
Chief justice asked Chief Secretary to inform about financial assistance to the relatives of martyrs and treatment of injured people. Chief Secretary told that funds are allocated which would be transferred in a day or two.
Further hearing was adjourned till report of commission.
