CM-Gaddani Ship Breaking Yard fire incident

QUETTA Nov 2 (PPI): Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri has said no one cannot be allowed to endanger human lives for securing personal interest. Security to lives of Workers at mining, fishery and Gaddani Ship breaking industry would be ensured at every cost. Contractors would be made bound to take effective measures for the security of workers and their welfare. Responsible institutions of Gaddani Ship Breaking fire would be brought to the net of law.

He expressed these views while chairing a high level meeting to review all aspects of fire incident at Gaddani Ship breaking Yard here Wednesday.

Adviser Obedullah Babat, Chief Secretary Saifullah Chatha, Secretary Home Dr Akbar Harifal, IG Police Ahsan Mahbub and others also attended.

Nawab Zehri said fire incident while breaking ship is extremely tragic in which poor workers wee burnt. Had concerned quarters discharged duty responsibly this incident had not taken place. He said government officers make ignorance and bad name is brought to the elected democratic government. He said whoever government officer or provincial or federal government department was found responsible strict action would be taken against that. No compromise would be made for security workers.

He said preliminaries show that this incident took place due to mismanagement and previous lives were lost which is not acceptable at any cost.

Meeting was told that contractors is bound to obtain NoC from Enron mental Protection Agency and BDA and technical staff of these departments allows permission for breakage of ships after its inspection. But contractor of said ship did not obtain NoC from above mention departments and stared dismantling ship and this incident took place.

Chief Secretary told that DC Lasbella has been directed to present report within 48 hours. He said section 144 has been imposed at the area with immediate effect and work has been stopped there.

Chief Minister said he would personally visit Gaddani and see the situation at Gaddani along with Parliamentary leaders.

Meeting was told that 18 fire brigade vehicles and three helicopter were engaged in fighting fire at the ship while chemical was also being used for it.
