District chairmen, Vice chairmen protest

QUETTA Nov 7 (PPI): Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of district councils staged a protest demonstration and dharna in front of Balochistan Assembly here Monday.
Speaking to newsmen on the occasion District chairman Quetta Naeem Khan Bazai, District Chairman Kachhi Sardar Khan rind, District Chairman Loralai Shams Hamzai, District chairman Dera Murad Jamali Ghulam Nabi Umrani, District Chairman Nasirabad Changez Sasoli and others told that local bodies elections were held in Balochistan first all. But local bodies representatives were not given powers nor funds. With the result several District Chairmen have locked their offices.
They said despite approval of our budget one and half years ago we were not allowed to call tenders. It was increasing people’s problems. For the first time local bodies representatives are protesting for their demands but neither government nor bureaucracy has paid any attention on it. They said chairmen have locked their offices for 20 days with the result have come to the roads.
They said there are nearly 11 thousand district members. If our demands wren to resolved we would jam system in Quetta. Institutions which were not allowing to run our system we would not allow them to run and we would expand our protest and stage hunger strike camps.
Provincial Minister Aslam Bizenjo, Jaffar Mandokhel, MPAs Manzoor Kakar and Engineer Zamrak Achakzai came to the protesting Chairmen and said that a 10 member team would hold meeting with Chief Minister so that powers are devolved at lower level resolving problems of people.
