Action launched against spurious, substandard drugs

QUETTA Nov 15 (PPI): Officials have started action against substandard and spurious drugs in the province.
During the current year 350 shops selling such drugs and a factory have been sealed so far. Cases have also been registered against some shopkeepers which are under hearing at courts.
According to secretary Quality board Balochistan told VOA in an interview that step has been taken following complaints of people by general pubic. Government ahs constituted a team which was taking action form September 25. We have sealed 48 and Deputy Drug Inspector teams 250 and magistrate 51 shops for selling sub standard and spurious drugs and manufacturing costly fake medicines besides sealing one factory.
Chief Patron of Balochistan Drug Association Rahat Malik told that those selling substandard medicines are enemies of humanity and strict action should be taken against them. But he suggested that action would be taken after testing process. He said unfortunately such organisation which were sealing off medicines stores they release name of shopkeeper and their photos to the media telling them that fake and spurious medicines have been caught.
According to official sources there are 1200 shops which were selling medicines under licences. Of thee 900 are in Quetta. In far flung areas of the province spurious and fake drug sellers strength is more than 1500 and action was being taken against them.
